Yale University School of Medicine

Ryan B. Jensen, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Therapeutic Radiology and Pathology at Yale University School of Medicine. His research focuses on understanding how BRCA2 functions in homologous recombination and how mutations and variants in this gene contribute to genomic instability and cancer predisposition. He has pioneered methods to purify and visualize full-length BRCA2 and to functionally assess variants of uncertain significance, advancing efforts to interpret genetic test results and inform precision oncology. His work also explores mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies such as PARP inhibitors.

This comprehensive course is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants in the principles and applications of digital technologies within modern dental practice. Participants will explore the use of CAD/CAM systems and intraoral scanning to design and fabricate dental restorations with greater efficiency and precision. Special emphasis will be placed on integrating digital workflows to improve clinical outcomes and elevate the patient experience.

The program combines engaging lectures, case-based discussions, and a rich hands-on component. Participants will have the opportunity to gain practical experience using state-of-the-art TRIOS intraoral scanners to capture digital impressions, as well as complete a guided laboratory session where the participants will be able to learn how to do digital wax-ups with Blue Sky Bio, a free, user-friendly CAD software. By the conclusion of the course, attendees will be equipped to confidently utilize digital tools to deliver innovative, high-quality dental care.

Digital dentistry and artificial intelligence are reshaping the way clinicians diagnose, treatment plan, communicate with patients, and deliver care. This presentation will explore practical applications of intraoral scanning, digital smile design, CAD/CAM technologies, 3D printing, and AI-assisted treatment planning tools that can be incorporated into everyday clinical workflows. Special emphasis will be placed on digital smile design platforms, such as SmileCloud, which leverage facial references and clinician-specific design preferences to create personalized esthetic outcomes. Overview
Dental patients frequently seek evaluation for a sore or lesion in their mouth. Fortunately, most of these lesions will be inconsequential or benign; however, some may be serious or represent an underlying systemic disorder. The purpose of this course is to review some of the oral conditions and lesions the dental practitioner may encounter in practice. Course Overview

This course is designed to satisfy the Texas Dental Board requirement for continuing education in minimal enteral sedation (required every 2 years for level 1 minimal sedation permit holders). This course does not qualify a dentist to apply for a new minimal sedation permit. Individuals who complete the course will receive a certificate, which can be submitted to the TSBDE as documentation of continuing education in minimal sedation.

Objectives

Course of instruction will include:

Dental Anatomy and Head and Neck anatomy (as it relates to this topic)Medical emergencies in the dental officeCase selection for coronal polishingErgonomics, patient positioning, “best practices”Infection control proceduresTechnique and proper use of dental equipmentLegal aspects of Coronal Polishing

The instructional lectures will be provided on 2 evenings and will allow questions and answers to the various topics. The hands-on portion of the course will allow the participant the opportunity to learn and develop appropriate techniques in coronal polishing. We will also discuss and various pieces of dental equipment, dental instruments and dental materials.

The webinars will be provided on a platform that can be viewed on either a desktop or laptop computer as well as a tablet.

These will be live and interactive webinars - Q&A and chat will be available.
