Hispanic Heritage Health Fair

Health Confianza is thrilled to announce its partnership with Barrio Dogg to present the Hispanic Heritage Health Fair on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, from noon to 4 p.m. The event will take place at Barrio Dogg, located in Southtown at 620 South Presa St. This community-focused event aims to provide valuable health resources and services to the public, celebrating Hispanic heritage while promoting overall well-being. Attendees will have the opportunity to access a variety of health and mental health services and information.

Resources include:

UT School of Nursing - Offering free health screenings, blood pressure and glucose checks.
COSA Nutrition & Diabetes Program - Providing resources on nutrition, diabetes management, and men's health programs.
Southside Collaborative -Featuring health and wellness resources to support community needs.
Enroll SA - Offering information on the insurance marketplace to help attendees explore coverage options.
The Center for Healthcare Services - Presenting resources for mental health and substance abuse service.

It will also feature a car show, live music, local vendors, prizes, and raffles. This event is free and open to the public and aims to foster community engagement and support.

Health Confianza is a collaborative program that utilizes health literacy principles and strategies to enhance health equity for those individuals living in ZIP codes with the most significant health disparities. The goal is to equip people with skills and access to scientific/accurate health information to make informed health decisions for themselves and their families. 

Established in 2017, Barrio Dogg originated in a 1964 Impala food cart, paying tribute to Lowrider culture. Our mission is to impact our community through a cultural culinary experience, by providing a taste of Chicano comfort food, with an emphasis on using high-quality ingredients, and to express the artistic flavor that comes from our neighborhood.
