Kristen Atkins, MD presents “Using Neuroplasticity to Improve Feedback”
Professor of Pathology Division Chief, University of Virginia School of Medicine
Kristen Atkins, MD is a Professor of Pathology and Division Chief at the Univ. of Virginia School of Medicine with extensive leadership experience in graduate medical education. After 11 years as a residency program director and 6 years as a division director, Dr. Atkins has seen feedback go really well and more often seen it crash into a chaotic mess. She has spent the last decade understanding human behavior, the way humans are wired, and how mindfulness approaches can reduce common triggers that make feedback hard to receive and prepare someone to more effectively give tough feedback. She speaks locally and nationally on mindfulness and tough conversations. This talk will provide a sampling of techniques that participants can use to see what helps calm their own inner voice and prepares their public voice.
